"That Feeling," Karley Dobis

That feeling that you get,
when your stomach's about to drop,
do you know which feeling I'm talking about?
the one that makes life pop.

That's the feeling that I get,
right inside of me,
and that feeling that I get,
is all I want to be.

I feel it here,
I feel it there,
I get it so much,
it shakes the atmosphere.

The more that I get it,
the more I believe,
that anything is possible,
that I can achieve.

It takes over my mind,
it fills up my soul,
this feeling that I get,
never makes life dull.

I'm not just a golfer,
I have another light,
and this feeling that I get,
is the one when I write.

  1. Karley, you're great at writing poems! I wish i had a talent like that. I really love the way it rhymes, and everything just makes so much sense. You're writing is so creative, "I get it so much, it shakes the atmosphere" is probably my favortie line. I like it because it doesn't fully rhyme with there, but yet you can tell it is very similar. It also makes me think of the actual atmosphere shaking because of the feeling I have. Over all, I love this poem, great job!

  2. I really liked the end of this poem. I wasn't expecting the feeling she got to be from writing, it was a good surprise. Its about something simple that brings about such a great feeling, which is neat.

  4. I agree with Mariah, I liked the surprise ending too! I wasn't expecting the "feeling" that she was talking about throughout the poem to be about writing. I loved all of the rhymes and the way the poem fit together was great!

  5. I really understand the feeling that the poem is talking about. I get that wonderful feeling when I'm singing and dancing in show choir. It's the feeling of pure happiness. I love being able to just forget the world and live in the moment.

  6. I have to say I really enjoyed reading this poem. I was pleasantly surprised that a student could write something this good. I like the mystery the poem keeps till the very end. As I was reading I was wondering what this feeling could be, and it's not until the very last word that the truth is revealed.

  7. Well written. I must say- I did not expect the poem to end up being about writing, but it was a pleasant suprise. I really liked it. I'm sure poetry is difficult to write, so props to Karly. When I started reading it, I thought it was about a roller coaster or something like that because the line about how it makes your stomach drop. My favorite line is "that feeling that I get, is all I want to be". I dont know why I like it so much or how someone can want their whole life to be writing (unless theyre an author or something) but anyways, that's my favorite line because at this point in the poem the reader doesn't know what the true subject is so when reading it, the reader is imagining what the subject probably is or what they think it should be; idealy.
