"[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]," e.e. cummings

[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]

by E. E. Cummings

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

  1. I really enjoyed this poem a lot. In his lines he keeps reiterating how they are one. How her heart is in his heart. I think that this is a really sweet poem. Any girl would love for a guy to say this stuff to her. Saying he is never without her heart implies that he doesn't want to be away from her and cannot live without her.

  2. I liked this poem a lot. There are so many different ways to read this poem. I liked reading it by skipping the paratheses and with them. I like how it starts out semi cliche but then gets more real in a wierd way.

  3. This poem was quite interesting. I liked how he wrote bout his love for a girl. And how he had nothing without her. He was very powerful with his words and defined his world is all about her. And he has nothing if it wasn't for her. Their was a little bit of a mystery when he said that their love was the deepest secret that nobody knew.

Does anyone feel a movement from this poem??
