"Don't Quit"

Don't Quit
Unknown

When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high;
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are;
It may be near when it seems afar.
So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things go wrong that you mustn't quit.

  1. This is a good poem it is very true about many things throughout. " Its when things go wrong that you mustn't quit" is a great quote and many people can relate to this statement when they read this because no matter the situation you must not quit.

  2. This is such a very inspiring poem. another thing that proves that there is a glimmer of hope in everything. even when things seem like they could never get better, they do. Line that stood out to me the most was that "Success is failure turned inside out."

  3. I also agree with Vincent. This is a very inspiring poem. I like how the author tells the audience "don't you quit" implying that life could have many struggles but if you don't give up your struggles could become achievements. The line that affects me is "Success is failure turned inside out" telling no matter how much I could fail, as long as I do not completely abandon my passions I will succeed.

  4. I agree with others above me who feel as though this poem is very inspiring. The "trudging" which is "all uphill" seems to imply great struggle and maybe even instill a sense of doubt. The focus on this poem seems to be placed upon the struggles of achieving goals, however, to overcome this struggle is not impossible... this poem was very inspiring i enjoyed it! :)

  5. I very much enjoy this poem. My favorite line is "Success is failure turned inside out" because it is very true that many failures ultimately can lead to success(Thomas Edison), and success can equally lead to failure. Maybe not failure in the object one is successful in, but surely in other principles surrounding that individual. I wonder if the writer was giving himself some self determination to finish this poem

  6. What a great poem...really inspirational. There was a bunch of lines that are really cool such as:"Success is failure turned inside out..." and "It may be near when it seems afar." I like how the poet mentions success and failure being almost alike. Failure doesn't mean it's the end of the world, your life is doomed and yadda yadda. As long as you never give up you will really never fail.

  7. I really love this poem. It inspires me to never give up. I agree with Ramone. The author is making success and failure seem alike, probably because in order to succeed you sometimes have to fail. If you fail you can't give up, you have to try and try again. The same path can lead you to failure or success, it's up to you to choose the outcome in the end. I agree with sour patch, in the fact that achieving goals comes with struggles, and that is the authors main focus in the poem.

  8. I love this poem. It just comes to show how much you have to work to get to something that you really wnat. Things are not just given to you without you having to work for it. And when you think that you cannot go any further, you just need to keep pushing yourself past your limit. Even if things do not go the way you want them to, you cannot give up. One of my best friends dad is extremely sick right now and I am not going to give up on her and her family even though things are not going as planned. Achieving your goals and pushing your mind mentally and physically is the main point of this poem and it is great advice!
