"I dance for the love," Amy Lee

"I dance for the love"

I dance for the love

I dance even when I feel pain
I dance knowing there's something to gain

I dance for the love

I dance for me
I dance for everyone to see

I dance for the love

I dance as the sunshine
I dance hoping you will be mine

I dance for the love

I dance with words to say
I dance all day

I dance for the love

I dance even when you leave
I dance and still believe

I dance for the love

-Amy Lee

  1. This is a good poem it is very descriptive. A dancer probably can relate more to this than I can but it still gives a vivid picture. The writer or the person this poem is about must really love dancing because they give plenty of reasons why they dance

  2. I really enjoyed listening to this poem in class. The repetition of the phrase "I dance for the love" gives a unique quality to the poem. I truly believed that Amy Lee loves to dance, after all she repeated the phrase a numerous amount of times.

  3. It is very interesting how the writer incorporates passion with both physical and mental love stating "I dance for the love....hoping you will be mine." It is also strange that this poem does not seem to have a title but the readers would probably name it something like "i dance for." I agree with DragonNighthawk with their opinion that this poem would probably relate more with a dancer because of the repetition of the word dance.

  4. This poem seemed interesting to me.... it deffinately seems to be about something other than dance... the repitition of the line "I dance for the love" throughout the poem seems to imply that dance is this speakers life... however the difference things following the "I dance" which begins every line expresses the many different reasons in which the speaker dances... it is not just because its fun or the speaker is good at dancing... it is for reasons much deeper than that... there is a great passion the speaker has which is expressed through his/her words.

  5. Most of this poem seemed very simple to me but the last two lines "I dance even when you leave/I dance and still believe" is a challenging concept for me to understand. I'm not quite sure who the narrator is addressing. Maybe she metaphorically speaking to her talent and love for dance, and when it leaves her she will still believe in the art of dance.

  6. This poem is great. It expresses the love the author has for dancing through short phrases. No matter what happens in life you can get through it by doing something that you love. If you are truely passionate about something you will continue it through the thick and thin in your life. The repition of "I dance for the love" epresses the author's passon for dancing by emphasizing its importance.

  7. I like how you can really tell that the speaker uses dancing as a way to express herself. I think the use of short, simple phrases is thought-provoking and helps the reader to get more out of the poem. And I agree with SourPatch, about the repetition of "I dance." I think the recurring phrase emphasizes the fact that her life revolves around dancing.
